abstract

bioactive materials including glass and glass-ceramics are nowadays used as medical implants for orthopedic applications. in this study several samples of glass-ceramics have been prepared using both heat treatment and sol-gel processes. the structure and bioactivity of these samples based on their interaction with simulated body fluid (sbf) have been determined. in-vitor, using the raman spectroscopic technique. it is found that most samples exhibit bioactivity when they are soaked in sbf. it is also concluded that raman spectroscopy is a powerful technique in such studies.

Raman Spectroscopic Studies of Polyfluorenes

Polyfluorenes reveal a complex interplay between emissive properties and intraand intermolecular structure. Vibrational frequencies and intensities determined by Raman spectroscopy are strongly influenced by variations in the backbone as well as side chain conformations. Changes in the structural and electronic properties of two side group substituted polyfluorenes (PF): ethyl-hexyl substituted...

FT-Raman Spectroscopic Studies of Nd/YAG Laser Irradiated Human Dental Enamel

FTR-Raman Spectra of human dental enamel, both laser-irradiated and untreated, are reported. Spectra are compared with hydroxyapatite. It is evident that unlike the CO2 laser, the Nd/YAG laser does not induce any chemical change in dental enamel.

Infra-red and Raman Spectroscopic Studies of Infected and Affected Dentine

Diagnosis of infected and affected dentine is an important factor in clininal restorative treatment of dentine. In this study, the IR and Raman spectra of the sound dentine, infected dentine and affected dentine are reported. The structure of infected dentine and affected dentine has been compared with the sound dentine and hydroxyapatite. It is shown while the infected dentine has lost its...

Raman spectroscopic studies of hydrogen clathrate hydrates.

Raman spectroscopic measurements of simple hydrogen and tetrahydrofuran+hydrogen sII clathrate hydrates have been performed. Both the roton and vibron bands illuminate interesting quantum dynamics of enclathrated H(2) molecules. The complex vibron region of the Raman spectrum has been interpreted by observing the change in population of these bands with temperature, measuring the absolute H(2) ...

Raman Spectroscopic Studies of ZnSe/GaAs Interfaces

ZnSe/semi-insulating GaAs interfaces have been studied by observing Photogenerated plasmon – LO (PPL) coupled modes by non-resonant microRaman spectroscopy. The effect of the carriers generated by the focused laser beam was investigated for a series of different thicknesses of ZnSe epitaxial layers. The PPL mode in GaAs is observed in micro-Raman spectra for all samples, but with different magn...
